How do blood stem cells decide when to differentiate?
In our new study published in Blood, we uncover a previously unrecognized regulatory layer linking mRNA translation, spliceosome activity, and alternative splicing to hematopoietic stem cell fate.
We show that translational control of the splicing factor SF1 dynamically rewires splicing programs, ultimately shaping stem cell differentiation and DNA damage responses. Our findings identify spliceosome as a central nexus controlling blood stem cell decisions and suggest exciting opportunities to manipulate stem cell fate for regenerative medicine.
