New study from Prof. Eugene Baulin’s Group

Congratulations to Dr. Eugene Baulin, IMol PAS Professor for the successful publication in NAR Nucleic Acids Research!

The work introduces ARTEM Server – a web platform for comparative analysis of nucleic acid 3D structures that brings together advanced methods for both local motif detection and global structure alignment.

Understanding RNA and DNA structure requires tools capable of recognizing similarities that go beyond sequence. ARTEM Server combines two complementary tools: ARTEM, which searches for small local structural motifs, and ARTEMIS, which compares entire nucleic acid structures. Together, they allow researchers to detect structural relationships that are often missed by traditional approaches. Importantly, ARTEM Server can recognize similar 3D arrangements without relying on sequence similarity or predefined interaction patterns, making it particularly useful for studying diverse and unusual RNA architectures.

The work highlights also how innovative computational approaches can open new possibilities for understanding the structure and function of nucleic acids, while also making advanced structural analysis more accessible to the broader research community.
