IMol at the 29th Warsaw Science Festival

IMol proudly took part in the 29th Warsaw Science Festival, engaging the public in a wide range of activities that opened a window into the fascinating world of molecular biology. Visitors joined our first hands-on workshop on DNA isolation, explored the power of bioinformatics during lecture Magic algorithms and RNA molecules, and created models of key molecular machines such as ribosomes, polymerases, and ATP synthases.

One of the highlights was the interactive session “How does the brain develop—and what can a tiny zebrafish tell us?” Participants learned about the complexity of nervous system development, from cell proliferation to synapse formation and neuronal activity, and even saw how fluorescent imaging reveals neurons “talking” to each other in real time as the zebrafish brain responds to light.

We also explored the fascinating world of mitochondria through the lecture Mitochondria – a story of life, energy, and transience and the interactive workshops Energy of Life: Discovering Mitochondria – The Power Plants of Our Cells!. Young science enthusiasts had the chance to observe real, isolated organelles and uncover how our cells generate the energy that powers life.

Thank you to all participants for your curiosity, energy, and creativity. Together, we proved that science is not only powerful but also inspiring, hands-on, and fun!
